Our Housing Complex

CSUDH University Housing is an apartment and residence hall complex composed of 22 two-story apartment buildings, 1 four-story residence hall, and 3 commons/administrative buildings. The buildings are surrounded by grassy areas, trees, and flowers -- perfect for studying or relaxing. There are 32 one-bedroom apartments housing 2 students each, 72 two-bedroom apartments housing 4 students each, and 60 three-bedroom apartments housing 6 students each. Our residence hall has a total of 159 rooms offering double (34 rooms), triple (63 rooms) or quadruple (58 rooms) occupancy options. Seventeen (17) of our apartments and four (4) of our residence hall rooms are specially equipped to accommodate students with disabilities.

Accommodation Type Eligibility

  • Apartments: Only UPPERCLASS students (second year and above) are eligible to live in the apartments. First-year (freshmen) students are NOT eligible to live in the apartments.

  • Residence Hall: The Residence Hall is open to all students regardless of class standing, but first-year students (freshmen) are REQUIRED to live in the Residence Hall.

  • ADA Accommodations: In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Fair Housing Act (FHA), California State University Dominguez Hills is committed to providing reasonable housing accommodations to students with documented disabilities. To request an accommodation such as a single occupancy room, or to bring an ESA (Emotional Support Animal) or service animal to campus, you MUST first do the following:
     
    1. Apply for Housing through the Housing Portal.
    2. Register with the the Student disAbility Resource Center (SdRC) and provide documentation that supports your accommodation request. Click for instructions on how to register with SdRC. The SdRC is located in Welch Hall, D180 (phone: 310- 243-3660, email: sdrc@gafmacademy.com).

Requests for ADA accommodations and/or ESA or service animal must be submitted to SdRC by no later than the Housing application priority dates:

    • May 26, 2023 for Academic Year 2023-24 applicants.
    • November 27, 2023 for Spring 2024 applicants.

Requests submitted by the Housing Application priority dates will be reviewed by SdRC and provided with a response prior to each term's official move-in date (August 24, 2023 for the 2023-24 Academic Year, or January 19, 2024 for Spring 2024). Requests submitted after the priority dates will be processed by SdRC on the third Friday of each month. Emergency requests may be submitted at any time and will be reviewed as needed. 

While SdRC works with University Housing to make the room assignment process easy and seamless, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be approved, or that certain accommodation types will be available at the time of application.

  • Sofa, love seat, or lounge chairs.
  • Dining table and chairs.
  • Stove, oven, and refrigerator.

Apartment residents provide their own blankets, linens, towels, dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, and other personal items such as microwaves, mini or micro-fridges (no more than 2 per apartment are allowed - maximum size 3.7 cubic feet), or televisions.

Residence Hall Features

  • University WiFi available in each room and throughout the building.
  • Central air and heat.

  • All rooms are non-smoking.

  • Large community kitchen and two kitchenettes.

Residence Hall Furnishings

  • Luxury vinyl tile in every room and common area.
  • Extra-long twin bed and mattress (beds are bunked in triple and quad rooms).
  • Desk and chair (desk can be secured with personal padlock).
  • Small closet.
  • Chest of drawers.

Residence hall residents provide their own blankets, linens, towels, and other personal items such as mini or micro-fridges (no more than 1 per residence hall room is allowed - maximum size 3.7 cubic feet) or televisions. Stand-alone microwaves or any other type of cooking appliances are NOT allowed inside the residence hall rooms.

Community Living

The rich cultural diversity of the CSUDH campus is mirrored in our on-campus residential community, with many programs and activities available for our residents. These include:

  • Free barbecues, movie nights, dances, and other social events.
  • Group trips to places such as Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm.
  • Educational programs and seminars on issues such as alcohol abuse, study tips, and health issues.
  • Thematic programs, residential outings, and other social activities.
  • Leadership and student government opportunities.
  • Open forums where residents can talk with staff from University Housing and other campus departments.

Renters Insurance

As noted in the Housing License Agreement, CSUDH assumes no responsibility and provides no insurance or financial protection for your personal property. We strongly recommend that you get renters insurance coverage. As a current or prospective University Housing resident, you’re eligible to purchase coverage through GradGuard’s student renters insurance program. CSUDH does not receive compensation for providing this student benefit. This preferred rate is available to you because you’re a CSUDH student. GradGuard’s Renters Insurance is underwritten by Markel® American Insurance Company.
