Center Code of Conduct

  1. Always check in
  2. No food or eating
  3. Drinks must have lids
  4. Be respectful of tutors and peers
  5. Expect tutors to provide strategies not answers
  6. Expect to review concepts not finish homework
  7. Understand that tutors are students not experts
  8. Come prepared with assignments and materials
  9. Return to the front desk to check out or be reassigned to the next tutor

 Tutoring Guidelines

  1. General Guidelines
    1. Services are for currently enrolled CSUDH students taking CSUDH courses.
    2. All students must have a valid CSUDH ID to access services and facilities.
    3. No eating in the center.
    4. Drinks with lids are allowed.
    5. All services support students to become independent life-long learners.
    6. All services abide by the campus’ Academic Integrity policy and exclude answer-checking and editing services. Students will always be responsible for their own work.
  2. Tutoring Guidelines:
    1. Tutors provide strategies to help students move forward with their learning process.
    2. Tutoring is not a substitute for lectures, incomplete readings, or faculty office hours.
    3. Tutors are CSUDH student peers who cover various subjects.
    4. Services are all group sessions.
    5. Students in need of an accommodation must work with SdRC.
    6. Tutors will NOT be able to address live or take home exams questions.
    7. Tutors can only answer basic software questions and share suggestions.
    8. Tutors will NOT be able to create accounts or install software.
    9. Tutors will NOT enter/upload data, adjust settings, and/or create posts, formulas, codes, or programs as doing so may infringe upon the campus’ Academic Integrity policy.
  3. Drop-in Group Tutoring Guidelines
    1. To access in-center drop-in tutoring, visit LIB-1575 and check in at the front desk.
    2. Students are assigned to tutors on a first come first served basis.
    3. Sessions are always group sessions.
  4. Online Tutoring Appointment Guidelines
    1. Online group appointments can be scheduled through TSC and held through Zoom.
    2. Students will need reliable internet connection, a connected device with a camera and microphone, and a location with minimal distractions to log into a session
    3. Appointments can be scheduled up to a week in advance.
    4. One appointment can be scheduled at a time.
